(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Addressing a gathering on the occasion of Japan's Culture Week in Tehran on Thursday, Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Abbas Araqchi said Iran and Japan are two "peace-loving countries".
"The Iranian nation has always been known as a peace-seeking nation throughout history and it has not been the first to initiate any war since 200 years ago," he said.
Araqchi noted that Japan also after the WWII helped to restoration of peace and stability in the world and did a lot to restore peace in different parts of the world.
Diplomatic relations between Iran and Japan were formally established in 1926 and throughout history, the two countries have maintained a friendly and strongly cooperation in various arenas.
The two countries' officials have held talks in different economic, trade, political and cultural fields in recent years to explore new ways of expanding bilateral ties.
Iran is one of the main oil suppliers for Japan.
